Song of the Day – “Anodyne Sea” by As I Lay Dying
This song, “Anodyne Sea” is taken from As I Lay Dying‘s 2010 release The Powerless Rise.
This entire release is fantastic, offering a great middle ground for both die-hard metal fans and people who just occasionally listen to the genre.
The clean and lighter sounding choruses give a break in between the heavier sections that attracts a bigger group of listeners. Now, while there are many bands that write songs in this style, almost none of them do it as well as As I Lay Dying does it. Their guitar riffs and drum writing still incorporate enough brutality to keep us loving the band, which is something that is hard to do in this writing style.
Nevertheless, “Anodyne Sea” is one of the best tracks off of this release. Give it a listen.
